Luminosity front view (Photographer: David)The community "Luminosity" has started with the wish to create "A temple for living" for its inhabitants. It consists of twelve small apartments, eight offices and big communal areas. David, one of the architects, is explaining the different aspects of the building like the new systems for waste water treatment and rain water harvest. The later will be able to provide enough water for all inhabitants of the building for the whole year. Looking ast the plan (Photographer: Lalit Kishor Bhati)The TDC discussed the need to develop nodal areas in each zone of the international zone and consolidating growth while creating an urban feeling. The group also spoke about starting new projects. A proposal has been made for the new Cite Universitaire. The chairman, Mr. Doshi, elaborated on the need for a urban design, sustainability, knowledge transfer, centralizing and decentralizing, diversity in unity with regard to the usage of space in the Universitaire while avoiding duplication of common facilities. Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi (Photographer: Lalit Kishor Bhati)The Auroville Town Development Council Meeting group discussed with Mr. Doshi the Galaxy Plan Footprint, studies done on residential zones and their existing building densities, roads, waste water treatment plants, land ownership, upgrading electricity, fences, security, mobility, green corridors, immediate and future development. Mr. Doshi emphasized the importance of making a "vital" city" and quality of life enhancement through astute use of energy and time.. (Photographer: Lalit Kishor Bhati)L'Avenir d'Auroville held the meeting with all architects of Auroville on main topic - how to work on development of Auroville, which is so specific and so diverse in purposes and interests. Meeting was called by Governing Board member Mr B. V. Doshi and joined by advisory member Mr. Harijit Singh Anand. As Mr.B.V. Doshi stated at his opening in Auroville many things are unknown and unclear - starting with land, demography facts, activities, housing, institutions and their connections with population, and their purposes. Establishing Development Council, which would be introduced to the Governing Board might bring some clarity and efficiently connect dispersed plans. Read more

Pierre Legrand and his shade. (Photographer: Giorgio)On Saturday, November 21, Auroville's planning group (L'Avenir d'Auroville) organized a full-day workshop on planning and design. Aurovillian architects were the main participants. At the morning presentation, which was held in the town hall's conference room, Pierre Legrand, an artist and member of L'Avenir d'Auroville, presented his grid concept grid concept presentation. Some participants at the workshop stated that if the city was designed spirally it would be quite helpful. Cristo, another member of L'Avenir d'Auroville and the Green Group, appreciated the grid proposal. Information and outputs of this workshop will be presented to the community in the coming weeks. He talks about his experience in Architecture and what is happening in the Earth centre, which has been a pioneer in creating sustainable,low cost and Eco-friendly building methods. Currently there is a workshop where architects from around the world have come together to participate and learn the methods.
