The Secret of `Strokes and Dots`
Pierre Legrand's very joyful art is an expression of his deep feelings, his happiness, his problems and also his love in every being. He has developed his own mathematical rules and a secret alphabet to transform poetry into paintings. Prayers to the Mother, mantras, inner thoughts and different emotions are turned into colorful strokes and dots and every painting has its own meaning. 'The real work is our transformation.' Ceramics Exhibition in Pitanga
Priya Sundaravalli from Tamil Nadu is currently having an exhibition in Pitanga. Over 300 ceramic objects, which are all very unique, can be visited until the 24th of March. Her art is quite unusual and the thin shapes of her creations make the items look fragile. Instead of thinking and planning her work, she is trying to let her inspiration flow freely and allows herself to do whatever is coming up. If items crack she repairs them with a Japanese technique: 'Nothing is a defect, accidents are seen as part of what is supposed to happen.' Read more

Oldtimer and Johan ZilverZurf
Sun was hot, children happily running around when music started with Oldtimer - Larry and Paul. Paul was also informing us on the progress of the musical part of the festival in his humorous way. Oldtimers haven't spent much time on the stage and Johan ZilverZurf followed them with his bass. Some interesting combinations of chill out and ambient we heard with him, setting the peaceful tone of festival at this hot hour of the day. Read more

Sukhino - a musician by nature
Sukhino is one of our musicians here in Auroville and his music an interesting mix of Blues, Ambiance, Mediterranean Style and Spanish guitar. Films and Children
All are invited to the Grand Opening of the Auroville Film Festival 2011 today at 5pm at Town Hall Plaza, and in today's news we featured short phone interview with Marco "seconds" before. After opening ceremony at 9.30 at Cinema Paradiso we can see first five films of the festival. Youth Center is in preparation for 8th of October, the Fun Day for children of all ages, and we talked with Lea and Anand about it. At Galery Sqaure Circle tomorrow and on Sunday Mutation in Progress, art installation by various artist on the theme of evolution. Read more

`About Photography`, by Giorgio
Auroville's favourite photographer Giorgio released a beautiful little book 'About Photography' this week. Auroville Radio spoke to him on Monday to get an insight in the mind of a photographer. What drives him? What does photography mean to him? How does he combine photography with the progressive spirit of Auroville? Printed on hand made recycled paper, this book is a beautiful collector's item as well as the honest story about a man and his passion for photography. Now available for everyone at Arka Library. Bamboo Open House
Last Saturday's Open House at Auroville Bamboo Research Centre thre was a chance to see on display almost everything about bamboo. With its versatile qualities, practical and artistic aspects, bamboo does inspire almost anybody who makes contact with it. In comparison with last year the progress at Bamboo Research Centre is clearly visible. The whole area is vibrant with new and rejuvenating energies, and smiling faces are all around. We talked shortly with Balu and Walter about the World Bamboo Day celebrations and about the Centre. Read more
